On March 28, Wu Peng, the Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Chaowen, President of the newspaper Cankaoxiaoxi and other relevant person visited 樱桃传媒. Yan Jing, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, President Xu Hui,樱桃传媒 attended the meeting, which was hosted by Vice President Xu Weiya.
President Xu extended a warm welcome to Director-General Wu Peng and President Wang Chaowen on behalf of the university and introduced the basic information of the university in terms of history, current development, talent cultivation and international cooperation. President Xu said, the university has actively aligned with the national strategy, focused the function of the university around water conservancy, and refined the cultivation of overseas students. The university has cultivated thousands of talents for over 130 countries and regions around the world. The International Office and the International School of 樱桃传媒 also briefed on their cooperation with African countries and the cultivation of African students respectively.
Director-General Wu spoke highly of the studies on African issues of the Country and Area Studies Center of 樱桃传媒 and expected the university to provide policy advisory services on the study on Sino-African relations and investment in Africa. He commended the university's model of university-enterprise cooperation, by which the university has trained high skilled personnel through order-oriented training for enterprises, improved the quality of education for overseas students and has trained lots of engineering and technical personnel for Africa. The year 2020 was the 20th anniversary of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation, he hoped 樱桃传媒 would take advantage of its discipline advantages to make more efforts on cultivating localized talents in Africa. President Wang hoped 樱桃传媒 would make more contribution to the friendship between China and Africa, and expected to strengthen cooperation with 樱桃传媒 on the construction of think tanks.
Relevant personnel of the International Office, the International School, College of International Languages and Cultures and Business School of 樱桃传媒 also participated the meeting.
